TITLE: HOLIDAY PARTY & NETWORKING EVENT" CELEBRATING THOSE WHO 'GIVE BACK'

HOST: WEST/Women Entrepreneurs in Science and Technology
COST: $45 for WEST Members, $60 for non-WEST members. At the Door:  $15 additional.

DESCRIPTION: Join WEST for the annual "Holiday Party & Networking Event" in January to celebrate Women, Entrepreneurs, Science and Technology.  The theme of the party is 'Giving Back', and we'll be celebrating those who help others in science and technology. There will be good food, as well as formal and informal networking opportunities with other WEST members. This event is open to the public. Everyone is welcome to attend! 
 
Speakers include:
Connie Chow, PhD, - the first Executive Director of Science Club for Girls, a non-profit that organizes free, after school programs for experiential learning, mentorship, and leadership opportunities for K-12 girls.
Melina Fan, PhD, - the Executive Director and Founder of Addgene, a non-profit organization that archives and distributes DNA-based tools to biologists.  Deb Davis, Global Team Lead, Discovery Strategic Portfolio Management at Abbott Laboratories
Carol Manahan, PhD, was the Founding Chair of the National Postdoctoral Association (NPA) and is currently Associate Director, Education Office, Novartis Institutes of BioMedical Research (NIBR).

Volunteers Needed - Help teach local girl scouts about engineering
The theme of this year's Badge Blast is Science Sleuth
 
There are opportunities available to participate in planning, picking up supplies as well as setting up the day of the event.  The girl scouts will be onsite from 10am to 1pm.  Day of event volunteers will be needed from 9am to 2pm.
